Share your wisdom, experience, and mentor 1 hour a week during the school year and change the lives of overlooked and underserved CS students at smaller CS programs, especially those from affordable and accessible colleges.
As a mentor, you will engage with the MinT program ~4 hours per month, and be paired with up to 4 students for the year. Your required interaction with the MinT program during the school year include:
- One guided and structured 1:1 meetings with each of your student mentees and a short reflection every month. Scheduling is flexible between you and your mentees.
- Provide your perspective and advice in the online MinT community with real fellow students and industry mentors
You can also choose to lead or participate in various industry talks, tech demos, panels, workshops, and events.
Mentors are required to go through mentoring training before they are admitted to the program and matched with students to understand how be a good mentor and get the most from the program.
Industry mentors will be 2 way matched with 4 student mentees based on mentor and mentee career aspirations, interest in a particular field, roles, background and journey in tech.
Therefore each mentor will have 4 student mentees, and each student mentee will have 2 mentors.
Guided discussion topics and curriculum modules are provided for every 1:1 meeting between mentees and mentors. They are designed to flow with the school year and annual industry and school cycles.
This structured discussion guide will take the burden off of mentors in driving the direction of each session and make each session more rewarding for the mentor and help the student mentee get the most out of your experience and time with them.
MinT will provide mentors and students with a closed online community populated by MinT mentors and MinT students to provide a space where real conversations about CS education, tech career pathways, and tech ecosystem navigation can take place.
Mentors and their interactions with the program will be supported by MinT staff during the duration of the program.
